My Pregnancy Cravings

So far I haven't had any major cravings yet....well except for these two things. I decided that drinking that much caffeine is not a very good idea so I switched to this (just added my own vanilla flavoring)

I devoured a whole can of the cheese dip (and a half a bag of chips) in one sitting. Never has anything tasted so good! Poor Ryan I didn't leave any of it for him. Sorry babe!

Emma's new bed, Strep Throat, and visitors!

Last Monday we bought Emma a new bed! She was so excited, in fact, Emma informed all of the salesmen that her new baby was getting her old bed so she needed a new bed. They were kind of ignoring her so she continued to tell them over and over until they acknowledged her information. Pretty funny. She seems so tiny in her new bed, but it is perfect for her to grow in!
That same day Emma came down with a fever which continued to the next day. I decided to take her into the doctor's after she told me her ear had an owie in it. I figured it was another ear infection but we were wrong, ears looked fine but her throat was pretty red. The doctor did a strep test and it came back positive, she has strep throat! Poor girl, she was pretty miserable that night but has been fine ever since. She was happy with her special Dora popsicles to help her throat feel better. Ryan and I were sure we would come down with it, but so far so good! This was our first sickness this year, so hopefully it is a while before we have to visit the doctor again! We were also excited last Wednesday to have mom and dad Erickson come visit us for the day! Ryan gave them the VIP tour of Flying J which he was pretty excited about. It was so fun to visit with them, we sure miss them and can't wait to see them again!

Twilight

Twilight is my most favorite book series that I have ever read. I read them back in August and just reread them again. I had a "girls night" at my house on Friday (Young Men had their Klondike Campout, so most of the YM Leaders wives came over)We of course got on the discussion of Twilight (I got Rebecca, one of my friends, hooked) and she informed me that Breaking Dawn the 4th and final book in the series will be released August 2nd! ALSO the movie Twilight will be released December 12th (I think) of this year! Yay, I am so excited. I love these books and if you haven't read them you need to!

Daddy has a what!?

Our dear, sweet, smart little Emma says the darndest things! Anyone who spends time with her always leaves saying, "Wow, she really does talk a lot!" My response: yes she does! So yesterday while she was in the bathtub she pointed to herself (down there :) and asked: "What is that?"

Mom: Umm that is what a girl part looks like. (I know experts recommend teaching kids the proper names but if I taught Emma the proper names, every single stranger on the street would learn an unwanted anatomy lesson. So we stick with bum, girl and boy parts for now)
Emma: Oh. (I can see the information trying to process in her head)
Emma: Ummm, but...whats....
Mom: (Oh dear how do I explain this!?) Girls and mommies have girl parts and boys and daddys have boy parts. (There, enough said)
Emma: (Information still trying to process) Ohh.... so.........Daddy has a tail!
Mom: Ummmm....(what do I say!?) well....
Emma: Except not in the back, dust in the front!) (Information finally processed darn!)

Sorry for so much information :) but it was so funny. We stopped letting Emma see Daddy in the buff a LONG time ago, but obviously that little mind of hers remembered. How do you explain things like that to a very observational 2 almost 3 year old? So that was bath time yesterday, every day is such an adventure with her!

Baby Update! / Emma's tantrums!

We had another doctors appointment last Thursday and everything still looks great! The little guy is measuring right where he should and I am finally starting to feel a little better. The doctor still has us convinced that it is a boy but we will know for "sure" (how can you ever know for sure?) next doctor's appointment. Since I am feeling better and everything is looking good we have moved up to 4 week apointments. I thought I would be super nervous not having an appointment every 2 weeks but we are relieved. It seems like now the pregnancy is going the way it should, therefore we don't have to come in every other week! I finally gave up my normal pants and have switched to maternity pants, not that I need them, they are just so much more comfortable. I can tell that I am starting to show but if you saw me on the street you probably wouldn't notice! Hopefully everything continues like it should and we will definitely keep everyone updated on the progress!
I think Emma is started to get that she is going to be a "big sister." She carries around her baby doll and says, "This is my baby sister, she's a boy!" Pretty cute! I told her the other day that the baby can hear what she is saying so she lifted up my shirt and laid her head on my belly amd sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. It was pretty cute. I keep reminding myself that she has her cute moments. She has hit a stage where she talks (yells) back at me whenever I ask her to do something. For example (this mornings dilema):
Mom: Emma can you pick up that toy amd put it in the basket please?
Emma: NNOO! I'm not gonna do it! I'm not being nice!
Mom: Emma, it isn't very nice to yell at Mommy. Will you please pick up the toy and put it away?
Emma: NNOOOO! I'm not do it!
Mom: You can either pick up the toy or sit in Time Out, what are you going to do?
Emma: I'm not sit in Time Out!
Mom: Well then you need to pick up the toy.
Emma: NOO!
Mom: Okay, Time Out then.
Emma: (Screaming) I'm being nice! I'm not gonna sit in time out! Don't touch my arm!
Mom: (Dragging her kicking and screaming to Time Out) Sit here for two minutes.
Emma: (Sobbing/screaming) I'm being nice!
Mom: (After sitting her back in Time out 10 times, she finally sits there for 2 whole minutes) Emma why did Mommy sit you in Time Out?
Emma: I was dust being nice and wanted to pick up the toy!

So at least Time Out accomplished something right? Right? Somedays we spend a lot of time in Time Out, others are our "Good Days." She has become very sassy and it drives me crazy! Are 3's really worse than 2's? I am beginning to think so, and we still have 3 months until she turns 3!

Lost Characters

We are huge Lost fans! We have been so excited to see the new season and watch it faithfully every week. I took this Lost character quiz and this is who I am! (I am going to have Ryan do it too.)

My hubby!

What is his name? Ryan W. Erickson
How long have you been together? Married 4 years 2 months, engaged 4 1/2 months, dated.. about 3 weeks!
How old is he? 25 (almost 26!)
How old are you? 24
Who said "I love you" first? I did. Funny story.. We had decided that we were going to get married, prayed about it, told our parents about it, and Ryan took me back to my apartment and as I shut the door I said, "I love you." And of course he said I love you too, but it was funny because we had already decided to get married and knew we loved each other, but neither of us had said it yet.
Who is taller? Ryan is by 9 inches
Who sings better? I would have to say we are about even, neither of us are terrible but we aren't too good either.
What is his quilty pleasure? Fishing, hunting, and watching TV
Who is smarter? I feel like we are both equal, Ryan is better at numbers and business ideas, but I am better at rocks and health stuff. (Duh, obviously better at what we went to school for)
Who does the laundry? I do. I think Ryan has maybe put 2 or 3 loads in the washer in the four years we have been married. He does help fold and put away if I ask him. He also irons his shirts if he needs them ironed (I hate ironing!)
Who does the dishes? I did most of the time when we were first married but the past couple of years he helps every night.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Looking from the foot of the bed, Ryan sleeps on the right side. No reason, we just picked our sides and have stayed the same since.
Who drives? Ryan. If we are traveling long distance and I can see him struggling to stay awake, I beg him to let me drive so we don't wreck. I think the main reason for him driving all of the time is then he doesn't have to turn around to entertain Emma :)
Who pays the bills? I do, always have and always will. I have always done our taxes as well, but this year I became frustrated and told him he has to do them (they haven't been touched since)
Who mows the lawn? If we had a lawn I would hope that Ryan would mow the lawn, but I wouldn't mind if I wasn't pregnant.
Who cooks dinner? I do. I tried planning out meals so that he would cook once a week but that lasted about one week. He is a good helper keeping Emma out of the kitchen when he is home early. I would rather cook than entertain Emma (it's a good break). Ryan did "cook" dinner last night, corn dogs sounded really good for some reason (pregnancy thing I guess), so we looked up a corn batter recipe and fried up some homemade Corn Dogs (hot dogs were store bought of course) They were really good!
Who is more stubborn? I would have to say that is a tie. We both are pretty stubborn even though I probably stay stubborn longer.
Who kissed who first? Ryan kissed me first in front of my parent's garage while dropping me off during the summer.
Who asked who out? Uhmmm, neither. It was a blind date. A mutual friend, Nick Baldwin, set me up with one of Ryan's friend, Pete, and Pete cancelled at the last minute, so luckily Nick got a hold of Ryan, and it was history! Ryan didn't call me for 3 weeks after our "blind date" but he did ask me out again eventually!
Who proposed? Ryan did. We had been engaged for almost a month, had our temple date reserved, I had my dress and everything but still had no ring and "official" proposal. We ordered the ring from brother-in-law Whitney's dad and Ryan told me it wasn't going to be done for a few more weeks. I was pretty upset, but he tricked me and had my parents bring me back behind the "catwalk" (unless you are from Ririe it is really hard to explain:). It is a really pretty place behind my parent's house and the canal, and Ryan was back there in a suit with roses and the ring. I just remeber him shaking so bad that I had to get the ring out of the box to put on my finger because he would have dropped it in the brush, never to be seen again! It was a perfect proposal and he did an amazing job!
Who is more sensitive? Me.
Who has more friends? I would say we are even.
Who has more siblings? Ryan does, 3 sisters 1 brother. I have 1 sister and 1 brother.
Who wears the pants in the relationship? I would say that we both do. I am more bossy though.
What is your favorite thing about him? He is so patient with me. I think that is why we rarely argue. He has such a strong testimony and I am so greatful that he served a mission. I truly see how it has made him a great husband and father. I love watching him play with Emma, he is so cute. I am truly blessed to be married to such an amazing person and he makes me so happy! I love you babe!
